I came across this post on FreelanceSwitch this morning.
Wow what a great idea. I hope all my fellow bloggers will sign up and take the time to participate on Friday.
The aim of this campaign is to get bloggers around the world to write an article about the fact that almost a billion (yes, a billion) people in the world do not have access to safe, clean drinking water with the aim of sparking global interest and discussion.
Earlier this week I came across a video on the oDesk Blog called “The Future of Work”. Not only has this video has reassured me that I am making the right decision to pursue a freelancing career, but it has also got me thinking about the way the world will work in the future. Continue reading
This past week has been so busy that I hardly even noticed it go by. Only when my client wished me a nice weekend on Skype earlier did I realise that today is Friday!
Between working on my clients project, studying( yep, my books arrived on Monday) appointments etc this week has literally disappeared. It’s been a busy one.
But I’m not complaining. My client has given me even more work to do and has increased my hourly rate too and that’s fantastic! I’ll be re-writing articles for his blog, and am now a part of his “quality assurance” team. Basically I’m going to be responsible for maintaining the content of the website/blog and helping his customers with registration, queries and subscriptions. How cool is that? Continue reading
So you’ve worked hard at creating a snazzy profile and now you want to start bidding on jobs. But an employer probably wont even consider looking at it unless you impress them with a good cover letter.

Freelance writing is something that is very popular right now, and I think it is something that might be worth my while trying (at least while I am brushing up on my SEO and HTML/CSS skills).
I consider myself a complete newbie when it comes to writing, other than this blog I haven’t written anything since my school days.
As you already know I have been away from oDesk for a little over two weeks, so this evening I spent some time checking out the job postings and the oConomy page researching trends for Writing and SEO jobs. I also had a look at the community forums where I stumbled across this particular thread. Continue reading
So today was my first day back at oDesk after a 2 week holiday, and man was it tough to get my butt out of the bed. I usually have no problems getting out of the cot in the mornings but I really had to struggle today. I’m normally up and about by 6.30, I see the O.H. off to work and grab some breakfast and maybe put on a load of washing. Then a quick check of my emails and by 8.00 I’m ready to start work.
