Back To The Grindstone

I got back from my holidays yesterday and I had a ball while I was away! I spent most of my time by the pool and at the beach relaxing and getting a tan. The weather was fabulous and it was great to feel the warmth of the Aegean sun on my skin! But I’m home now and it’s time to get back to work again.

I’m off to Turkey on Saturday for a well deserved holiday. I will be staying in a town called Turgutreis which is about an hours drive from the more popular resort of  Bodrum.

Its a nice small resort and has plenty of restaurants, cafes and bars to choose from. But the part I am most interested in is the beach. My pale Irish skin is starting to take on a blue-ish hue from lack of decent sunshine, so I will probably spend a lot of my time on the beach.

You might have read my post from earlier today, where I mentioned that I want to teach myself SEO/Linkbuilding and HTML. Well I have been thinking about it all day and have set myself a few short-term goals.

Bad news and How I found myself on oDesk! – Part Deux

Getting my first job on oDesk was tough going. It took weeks of searching, applying for positions and trying to convince people that I had the skills they needed and at the right price. It can be really tough to find a job that you know that you can do and do it well, but it is harder still to land that job.

The whole redundancy thing was inevitable really, I could see it coming for the bones of 18 months.

The recession hit pretty hard in Ireland, and although it didn’t effect the business centre immediately I knew it was only a matter of time.
